Responsibilities
- Select, plan, and set up welding equipment for various pipe welding tasks
- Lay out, position, cut, assemble, and fit metal components according to blueprints and technical drawings
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure positions for welding
- Perform gas metal arc welding (GMAW/MIG) on multiple pipe types including carbon steel and stainless steel
- Assist pipe fitters in pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication when not actively welding
- Document all weld information and maintain legible weld maps
- Identify and follow all safety requirements and risks
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Work safely at heights, confined spaces, and varied environmental conditions
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience welding industrial-size and grade pipes (Schedules: 40, 80, 160)
- Must pass a 6G GMAW weld test prior to hire
- Proficient in welding in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings
- Thorough knowledge of metals, welding processes, and effects of welding on materials
- Reliable transportation
- Must have all personal tools upon start date
- Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in confined or elevated spaces
