Bonfire Engineering and Construction is seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Manager to oversee telecommunications fiber construction projects in Los Alamos, New Mexico. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong expertise in Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications, FTTH deployments, and field operations management.
The Construction Manager will serve as a key driver of project execution, safety compliance, subcontractor performance, and quality assurance while championing Bonfire’s core values and culture. This is a field-based position requiring daily site visits and hands-on project oversight.

Responsibilities
- Overseeing telecommunications construction and fiber deployment projects.
- Managing FTTH infrastructure placement (aerial, trenching, boring, micro-trenching, fiber placement, splicing, testing, FDH and OLT installation).
- Conducting field inspections to ensure subcontractor work meets company and permitting standards.
- Enforcing subcontractor production goals and project schedule compliance.
- Leading QA/QC initiatives and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Managing materials and coordinating with engineers, inspectors, project managers, and construction crews.
- Preparing daily production reports and tracking project progress.
- Addressing field construction issues, delays, and emergencies.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, legal, and permitting requirements.
- Acting as liaison between landowners, permitting agencies, internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Organizing and leading pre-construction and post-construction meetings.
- Mentoring junior inspectors and guiding field inspection activities.
- Reporting progress and findings to senior leadership and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience overseeing telecommunications fiber projects.
- Extensive experience in:
- FTTH (Fiber to the Home)
- OSP telecommunications construction
- Permitting and Rights of Way (ROW)
- Installation and network turn-up
- Strong understanding of:
- Engineering drawings
- Fiber construction methods (aerial, trenching, boring, micro-trenching)
- Fiber splicing and testing
- GPON/XGS-PON technologies
- Experience evaluating subcontractor performance and contractual compliance.
- Ability to conduct field inspections and enforce safety standards.
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Successful completion of background checks and drug screening.
