Responsibilities
- Perform welding and cutting tasks on steel and iron bridge structures
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements
- Utilize various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and arc welding
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
- Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Prepare welding jobs, including selecting appropriate materials and equipment
- Collaborate with field supervisors and team members to meet project timelines
- Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment
- Work on weekends, nights, and in varying weather conditions as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or welding certification preferred
- Proven experience as a Welder in construction, particularly bridge rehabilitation projects
- AWS D1.5 certification preferred
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding; experience with oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, grinders, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Manual dexterity and strong attention to detail
- Physically able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, walk, lift at least 50 lbs, and work at heights
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen; subject to random drug testing
