Responsibilities
- Weld metal components to fabricate or repair products such as machine parts, motors, generators, and plant equipment.
- Perform welding using gas welding, brazing, arc welding, MIG, TIG, FCAW, and plasma arc methods.
- Conduct thermal cutting, grinding, pre-heating, tack welding, bead welding, and heat-treating processes.
- Repair cracks, fill holes, and modify metal components to required tolerances.
- Weld various metals including aluminum, stainless steel, armor plate, and dissimilar metals such as copper to steel.
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, sketches, and work orders.
- Position and clamp metal components using jigs, templates, and guides before welding.
- Ensure full penetration and fusion welding where close tolerances are required.
- Perform welding tasks in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
- Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment to minimize workplace hazards.
- Assist in equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with welding standards and specifications.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain government security clearance.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Certification in American Welding Society (AWS) standards (AWS D17.1 or related certifications), or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to work various shifts including first, second, or third shift.
- Strong understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
