Responsibilities
- Assist with feed planning and pasture management
- Control weeds and pests to maintain healthy pasture and crops
- Apply fertilizer and support irrigation requirements
Milking
- Support all aspects of the milking process
- Maintain plant hygiene and monitor somatic cell count
- Ensure milk quality standards remain grade-free
Effluent Management
- Operate and maintain effluent systems in compliance with regional council and company standards
- Maintain accurate effluent management records
- Respond appropriately to system issues or failures
Animal Care
- Assist with animal health programmes
- Support calving, wintering, and calf rearing activities
- Maintain accurate herd records
- Report sick or injured animals to the Farm Manager
Business & Maintenance
- Work with the Dairy Farm Manager to support the Farm Business Plan
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure
- Follow all company policies and procedures
Health, Safety & Environment
- Comply with all health and safety requirements and procedures
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work in line with best-practice environmental guidelines
Requirements
- Physically fit and willing to learn
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must have no criminal record
- No previous dairy farming or milking experience required
- Willing to live on-site in provided farm accommodation
- No pets allowed
