Responsibilities

As a Veterinarian with Pets People Practice Nova Scotia Inc., you will be responsible for the following:

Animal Healthcare

  • Diagnose diseases and medical conditions through physical examinations and laboratory testing
  • Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication and performing appropriate medical procedures
  • Perform surgical procedures when required
  • Vaccinate animals to prevent and control diseases
  • Conduct routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations

Veterinary Services

  • Provide comprehensive veterinary services, including obstetrics, dentistry, and euthanasia
  • Develop treatment plans based on each animal’s condition
  • Monitor patient recovery and provide follow-up care
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients

Client Care

  • Advise pet owners on feeding, housing, breeding, hygiene, behaviour, and general animal care
  • Educate clients on preventive healthcare and wellness programs
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and medical recommendations clearly and professionally

Clinic Operations

  • Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers
  • Hire and train clinic staff when required
  • Support the overall operation of the veterinary clinic
  • Maintain high standards of animal welfare and professional ethics

Requirements

The job need the following qualifications:

  • Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry (Veterinary Medicine required)
  • No previous experience required (training will be provided)
  • Fluency in English
  • Licensure by the appropriate provincial or territorial veterinary authority
  • Willingness to relocate if required
  • Ability to work on-site in a private veterinary clinic
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and professional judgement
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call schedules
