Responsibilities
As a Welder & Fabricator, you will be responsible for:
- Following all health and safety standards at all times
- Studying blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand job requirements
- Selecting, preparing, and cleaning metal stock
- Cutting metal components using hand tools, torches, or cutting machines
- Shaping and bending metal parts using hand tools or machines
- Aligning metal parts for joining using tools and measuring instruments
- Welding, bolting, or riveting components using various techniques
- Inspecting completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications
- Finishing products through cleaning, grinding, filing, or polishing
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant welding and fabrication experience
- Proven experience in structural steel fabrication and welding
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong understanding of welding tools, machines, and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A high standard of accuracy, attention to detail, and workmanship
- NZ Residency or valid work rights in New Zealand
Skills
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, or ARC welding techniques
- Metal shaping, grinding, and finishing
- Ability to operate cutting tools and metal fabrication machinery
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
