Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Chef at Chef Big D’s Deli and Restaurant, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff
  • Supervise activities of specialist chefs, sous-chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers
  • Prepare and cook food for regular meals, special guests, or functions
  • Prepare meals or specialty foods as per customer requirements
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities
  • Ensure food meets quality standards and customer satisfaction
  • Consult with clients regarding special events such as weddings and banquets
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
  • Manage kitchen operations including cleaning and maintenance of work areas
  • Order supplies and equipment, and ensure inventory is maintained
  • Inspect food service areas and ensure health standards are met
  • Recruit, hire, and train kitchen staff in food preparation and handling
