Requirements
- Proven experience in heavy engineering or shipbuilding
- Time-served welder or relevant qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, apprenticeship)
- Knowledge of welding processes, especially Flux Core and MIG welding
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documents
- Experience working with overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication of steel structures to high-quality standards
- Produce vertical and overhead welds as required
- Assist in building steel frames, unit builds, and repair/refit operations
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of welding equipment and tools
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures
- Inspect parts and finished products for accuracy and quality
- Report any faults or equipment damage to management
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Shut down all equipment safely at the end of each shift
