Responsibilities
As a long-haul truck driver working for Westrich Transport Ltd. in Surrey, British Columbia you will be responsible for the following:
Truck Driving
- Operate straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy when required
- Deliver freight safely and on schedule
- Follow all traffic laws and company transportation procedures
Vehicle Operations
- Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Monitor the condition of tires, brakes, lights, refrigeration units, and other equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and brake adjustments
- Carry out emergency roadside repairs when necessary
Cargo Management
- Load and unload goods safely
- Ensure cargo is secured properly before transportation
- Verify shipment details and maintain cargo integrity throughout delivery
Communication & Documentation
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, fuel consumption, hours of service, and distance travelled
- Complete required transportation documentation accurately
- Maintain professional communication with dispatch and customers
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
- Conduct vehicle inspections according to company standards
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and road safety requirements
- Maintain high safety standards while operating commercial vehicles
Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- No previous experience required (training provided)
- Ability to communicate in English
- Willingness to work full-time on-site
- Ability to travel on long-haul routes
